# Engagement metrics

> Which platforms report views, likes, comments and shares back to seenpaid, how often they're read, and why a missing number is never shown as zero.

Once a post is out, seenpaid reads its engagement back from each platform and shows it on **Results**, per post and per channel. This page is the honest table of what each network lets us read with the permissions users have already granted.

**Rule:** a count is either read from the platform or shown as a dash. `null` means "not reported", never 0. seenpaid does not fill gaps.

## Who reports what

| Platform | Reported | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| Bluesky | likes, comments, shares | No view count exists. |
| Mastodon | likes, comments, shares | No views. |
| X | impressions, likes, comments, shares, saves | Read on your own X keys; X bills about \$0.005 per read, so seenpaid reads X once a day per post, at most 20 reads per day. |
| Facebook | likes (all reactions), comments, shares | Impressions need a permission seenpaid doesn't request. |
| Instagram | likes, comments | Views, reach and saves need `instagram_manage_insights`, not requested. |
| Pinterest | impressions, saves, likes, comments | Counts stay small while the app is on Trial access. |
| Tumblr | likes, shares | Replies have no total; comments stay blank. |
| Discord | likes | Sum of emoji reactions on the message. |
| Dev.to | likes, comments, views | Views when Dev.to includes them for the author. |
| Hashnode | views, likes, comments | |
| WordPress | comments | Core WordPress has no view counter. |
| Lemmy | likes (upvotes), comments | |
| Nostr | likes, shares, comments | Counted across the relays we publish to; relay-dependent. |
| Threads | nothing yet | Needs `threads_manage_insights`, not requested. |
| LinkedIn | nothing yet | Post statistics are partner-restricted by LinkedIn. |
| TikTok | nothing yet | The draft flow returns no video id; reading counts needs TikTok's content audit. |
| Slack, Telegram, Medium, Ghost, Webhook | nothing | These platforms expose nothing to read for what we publish. |

13 of the 21 platforms report something. Adding a scope to unlock more (Instagram views, Threads, Facebook impressions) changes what users consent to and is a review-scoped decision that hasn't been taken.

## How often it's read

Each published post is read every 4 hours for its first 48 hours, then daily until day 30, then it stops. X is read daily from the start. Reads are capped at 300 per workspace per day (20 for X). A failed read is logged and never affects publishing or an account's status.

## Where it shows

**Results** shows the totals row and the per-post table with views, likes, comments and shares, with channel tabs to merge or filter by network, and a "Where these numbers come from" list per connected channel. An agent reads the same numbers by asking, for example *"How did last week's posts do?"*.

## Not included

No follower counts, and seenpaid is not a social inbox: it reads counts, not the comments themselves.
